Crates
High performance in-transit protection against shock and vibration
An industrial crate is used for the storage, handling, and transportation of goods in various industries. These crates are usually made from strong, durable woods like plywood or solid lumber. They are designed to protect the contents from damage during transit and storage.
Why choose crates
Heavy-duty
Ideal for very bulky/heavy items or especially fragile equipment
Strong & customizable
Highly customizable and sturdier than corrugated boxes
Shock & vibration control
Can be precisely engineered to provide specific quantities of shock and vibration mitigation
Reusable & cost-saving
Can be reused and refurbished to extend their lifetime and maximize ROI
Optimized for performance, value, and ease of use
Large, heavy, odd-shaped, and sensitive equipment requires precise packaging for damage-free transportation. Our team understands the exacting requirements needed to design a crate that caters to the size, weight, shape, fragility, sensitivity, and destination of the item to be shipped.

Crates: perfect for bulky and extremely delicate items
Because wooden crates are highly customizable and extremely sturdy, they are typically used for moving items over 125 lbs and delicate products and sensitive items that require special handling in transit.
Examples include server racks, medical equipment and robotic arms, and other types of awkward, heavy equipment. Large items such as this demand specially engineered shock protection and support.
Wooden crates can also be reused and refurbished to extend their lifetime, which can help make them more cost-effective.
Custom sizes and features built to your exact specifications
Most wooden shipping crate designs meet Mil-Spec and ASTM standards for quality and durability. To us, standards are only the starting point. Unique products require unique packaging. We work with you to assess your requirements and design and manufacture the right specification for your application.
We customize each crate design to accommodate the specialized material handling, loading, unloading, blocking and bracing, shock and vibration protection requirements of your item being shipped. This may include floater bases and foam lining or supports, or specialty hardware, blocking, and ramps to facilitate reuse or loading.

TYPES
Crate solutions for secure shipping
For reliable protection during transit, LPC offers both Cleated Panel Boxes and Drop End Crates

601A Cleated Panel Box
Cleated Panel Boxes comprise the bulk of commercially used crates and offer superior protection against weather hazard. This crate is a light duty crate suitable for most purposes and can be strengthened with intermediate cleats (additional boards between the edge cleats) and/or thicker sheathing (the wood, usually plywood that makes up the four panels and the top.).

Drop End Crate
The Drop End Crate is used when front loading makes more sense or if the item to be crated is heavy or bulky. Once the item is on the base, the cap (the top, two sides and two ends) is placed over it and fastened to the skids, usually with lag screws.

RACK CRATES
Looking for a crate for a server/storage rack or medical device?
Rack Crates for server and storage racks and medical devices are typically used to transport very expensive equipment and frequently used multiple times. They must be designed for performance, and the realities of the receiving departments.
